My pleasure, Paul. And hopefully someone else’s. I will have to reread later tonight. So many threads to tease out some more. Many thanks for sharing !👏✍️
Unpon reading a second time, I paused at the first line longer. My mind conjured up the smell of fresh rain on dust, tripping me and preventing me from reading on comprehensively. The second read was much smoother; your words flowed easily as a stream in summer.
I read through this once. Will need to read it again and again more slowly until all your images are conjured up. My first impression is one of intensity. Will have to revisit. TY for writing and sharing your work.
Damn you good!!! Might be one of my favorites so far but then again, they all my favorites!!! Lol
That first stanza evokes very strong senses of sight, sound and smell!!!
I really like the comparison of Nineveh Ziggurats to New York City Skyscrapers! Have always been fascinated with early Mesopotamia and Ur, Babylon and Annunaki history! Contemporary archeologist says ziggurats where used for worship of deities I take it you are contrasting that to New York Office Buildings being used for the worship of money???
Again, great stuff here, lots to unpack and think about over and over as I reread and digest it! Bravo 👏!!!
Thank you, Michael. I think so many images in dreams often represent ideas that transform from one thing to another during the dream state and it is only on waking that we are able to make the kind of comparison you suggest and what they might mean. And, yes, worship and what we worship is part of that.
Thank you for restacking this, @KEVINMAHER

Beautiful work Paul.
Thank you for reading it, Kevin, and I appreciate your comment!
In the third paragraph from the end I was reminded of Thomas Wolfe, Look Homeward Angel, but only fleetingly.
Thank you, Katie.
What a beauty. Great pathos. Mourning.
