Once again, another Summer holds up its mirror and the reflection sees itself and says, “I am bruised, but not broken. See where time has folded, creased, and torn apart years to paste them on a face colored by the sun of so many summers, blasted by wild winter winds, licked clean by spring rains, lit by the soft shadows of a harvest moon." This face no longer lives among empty hearts waiting to be filled with a sweeter liquor, nor does it live with closed minds once thought forever sealed: Now it splits and opens to every destiny that travels like a wayfarer seeking comfort for just a night, then disappears as the thin mist of morning falls over it."
A while back I had an old-life crisis looking in the mirror wondering why I woke up one day to doubling of wrinkles. I did not cry because it’s good to have wrinkles instead of being under the grass like too many of my friends. I can also avoid mirrors on bad days😎!
Whiskers and welts may rise and fall but underneath the creases continue to make the call and an open door awaits a wayfarer widely roamed that returns to tell the places been with open heart we see the sun rise with warmth , promises to be and sometimes see the clouds that move while we sit waiting for the knowledge knock on the door.
Regular rest is necessary for renewal!
Thank you for restacking this, @Geraldine A. V. Hughes

I love when poetry like yours creates such powerful images of change.
Especially this line “splits and opens to every destiny”.
Thank you, Teyani
Awoke looking at my partner of 39 years. On the wall behind him is our wedding photo. Then I read your words. Perfect ✨🎯💖
