Against the Gale

I sailed your seas, climbed the mast,
I pulled the rope to raise the sail.
Your body deep inside my own
Huddled together against the gale.

In darkness vast, we faced the storm
And chose to walk a twisted trail.
Once our eyes met, a spark was born
And the future beckoned behind a veil.

The winds howled a fearsome blast.
Our courage grew, we would prevail.
Against the unknown sea, we cast
our lot together, we would not fail.

On the edge of dreams, we find at last
A moment paused in time’s sweet jail.
Whatever comes, we must hold fast.
We sail on love and that’s our tale.
