1 I came to a city clothed in smoke, a city waiting to become tomorrow’s cinders Mantles were already charred and hearths had hosted their last suppers. Inhabitants filled their mouths with ash and held their hands upward for a sign that never came. 2 Words scatter themselves before me, soft as leather, heady as musk; some are stacked like coffins, each holding a sleeping body shrouded in sackcloth: Do they still dream? If they dream, do they speak of it? And who are the ghosts that listen?
The gift of creativity out of atrocity is a really special Paul. I know if you didn’t it would somehow tear you apart because you were obviously an empath. But it’s more than just something you must do. It is just awesome, at least for me. Thank you.
Wow. That hit me hard. Right in the solar plexus. Nothing like no ancillary unnecessary wordy BS but a straight presentation of atrocious truth to get a bodies attention.
We’re the only creature on the planet that shits in its own nest .......
My pleasure, Paul. I mean it’s funny that I stumbled upon you at a time when I needed thoughtfulness, intentional starkness and some inspiration. Kim Stanley Robinson and his Mars trilogy literally saved me from my situational depression once upon a time. I can get lost and forget myself and somebody else’s World. Not to be some condescending elitist but I have found it hard lately to find other worlds that I’m interested in. I’m chalking it up to geographic confines. LOL
I truly do have faith that the cosmos is spinning as it should. If I didn’t need to hear what you have to say, I would’ve spun right by you at unimaginable speeds.....😉
Hug the ones you love every chance you get. Live for others. That’s what it’s all about. Yesterday is a canceled check. Tomorrow is the promissory note. Today, well today is cold hard cash. Do with it what you will, as not to ever regret.
“Words scatter themselves before me,”
Words are the fuel that burns creating the smoke.
wow
Poignant --I couldn’t help but think of Gaza and Ukraine.
Gaza and Ukraine are only two among many-Thank you for restacking, Diane.

Thank you for your comments, Hudson, I’m grateful.
Indeed, sadly.
Tame and befriend the Phoenix that rises from those ashes.

Just riffin off your good work.

Perfect verbiage. Keith Richards with words.....
If you don’t mind letting being Jimmy Page play lead. (Paul)
If only Pompéi was the end of this.
At least that was Nature striking not us killing ourselves.
If only...
