This poem was originally posted back in October 2023 when Paul’s Substack had less than 10 subscribers. During Summer 2024, at the point when this publication had grown to about 800 subscribers, this musical version, produced by sound engineer Johnny Duncan, was posted. Since that time, the audience has doubled, and I am happy to post the musical version again for the subscribers and readers who may have missed it the first time around. Enjoy!
Everything burns. Everything ends. Mothers, fathers, children, friends. Time is an arrow that never bends. Everything burns. Everything ends. Everything gives. Everything takes. Love, obedience, apples and snakes. Time is a chain that never breaks. Everything gives. Everything takes. Everything drops. Everything falls. Kings and empires, towers and walls. Time is the sunset that always calls. Everything drops. Everything falls. Everything burns. Everything ends. Mothers, fathers, children, friends. Time is a needle that never mends. Everything burns. Everything ends.
