"You burn all your matches" she told me once, " like in that Andersen's fairy-tale, and what'll happen then, after, when you ran through all of the matches?"

I didn't answer; but since then, I often check my matchbox and count, and there are only few matches left, precious matches, source of my light; and I make sure I don't burn them.

Damn Paul, you do a nice turn of phrase. Looks simple, doing it is harder. I so enjoy your poetry and others here as well. Maybe soon I'll figure out how to post and get my stuff on here too. As always, well played sir!

Sometimes after being so very patient, something new looms and it brings us to this moment you speak of.. we can no longer wait without some sort of sustenance. Well done Paul.

In spite of the mixed message, I like this. Perhaps it is complete - it certainly will be for some. At the same time, I wonder if an inclusion of the risk, potential problem or potential deception of 'lower hanging fruit' might have improved it. - Just my thoughts and critical comment but please accept not meant in any sense to derogate what you've written.

Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
