I have learned that being invisible has a tremendous upside.

Mushrooms grow in the dark.

That’s a unique perspective! It’s interesting to think about the benefits of being invisible.

I see you. We are part of a tribe, carrying wisdom no longer relevant to the times in which we reside.

Classic Cadillac poem that cruises with fins in light of day. Not many around. Invisible no, once in awhile you ‘ll see on the prowl ; like the homeless person you trip over on sidewalk lying under a florescent lamp. They are there invisible with occupant flyers in paper sacks for a pillow. Now you see them, then you don’t.

Thank you, Richard. I could stuff a pillow with my occupant/resident mail

Life’s ironic twist: mastering the game just in time to be sidelined.

.. Unusually ‘Ironic Paul.. as You’re by far & away ‘the most ‘visible’ of anyone on Substack to me

This is noticed Daily via the Algorithm ‘directing my ‘inbox - Invariably ! - every single morning🦎🏴‍☠️

I live once again in the same town where I was born, grew up, went to school, and worked, and I’ve been back here for 8 years and I rarely see anyone I know or who knows me. That’s why I’m on Substack.

haha.. I has Facebook & Twitter ‘homies around the world Paul.. but ‘see less of them due to ‘Writing.. as well as ‘servicing my substack site consumes so much of my time..

As a ‘multimedia or hypermedia artist & student of Media - am truly aware of ‘visibility within Substack & the nature of Algorithms. That my Site is eclectic & diverse - intent on ‘spotlighting examples of Works by Exemplars across such a spectrum & piggybacking some of my own examples within that matrix is well underway though essentially useless versus the Business Model & Algorithms. Hardly a surprise & by excluding Organized Religion - Partisan Politics - Conspiracy Pimping & instead designing for All Ages & ‘browsing ease certainly cut that ‘stuff off at the pass’

I came here for ‘a stable platform that could accommodate a veritable ‘buried treasure’ of most ‘modern media examples’ & am only about 16 months into the endeavour. I ‘got what I came for - re the ‘mechanical capability.. but did not expect the Algorithmic ‘Intelligence encountered thus far to be so toxically ‘passive suppressive of ‘visibility’

Keep up the fine work Paul.. would post another Poem I’d love you to ‘try a read of’ ! It’s been hiding on my salamander site & in plain sight all along .. & seemingly invisible to the ‘BlindSide Algorithm .. and named it years back as ‘Harvey’s Fishing Boat.. will be sure to tag a ‘poet when I post it via Notes haha.. Prediction ? It might get 2 ‘Likes or none.. as my ‘batting average via Notes is approx 2-3 ‘Likes per 50 or so Notes Posted 🦎🏴‍☠️🧨

Substack is where I spend most of my time, Thomas, and I try to post every day. I’ve had some personal issues this past month and it’s hard to concentrate on writing but I try.

are you ‘generating your poems.. or completing them as ‘drafts ? Or serving ‘fresh off the griddle !

I’m utilizing Adobe Express Free Version to package or present hybrid imagery - these are mainly cinematic references with camera notes.. ‘storyboards re ‘Setting Camera Sound Talent etc

I haven’t bothered creating videos but only due to aged out computer & application & utilities

Why not try a read or two ! Or direct an attempt or two haha ! You’re free to use the photo in any way you wish - as well !

I wouldn’t know a thing about directing an attempt at anything like you do on your stack. All I have to offer are the poems and my gratitude to those who read and/or comment.

didn’t you do a collaboration with a gentleman .. voicing a ‘read.. was a ways back .. but not a year ?

I do have something like 30 draft pieces sitting on my dashboard, some going back to April, last, which I go back to regularly to see if I've thought of anything that would prompt me to publish any one of them. None of them are at the stage where I'd just push them out there.

I write a lot. Some pieces are done or near done when first written. Others go through draft stages. Still others sit and sometimes lines in these will work elsewhere.

I, being 68 now and just beginning to really hit my stride as as poet, can relate fully to this poem. Some people (including my kids) say: 'You can't be writing love poetry and erotic poetry now. You're too old. Can't you go and hide somewhere - make yourself invisible?' I say: 'Young people have too many crazy rules.'

Last night when I read this, I wondered if that were not a bit of humor on my radar. I was tired, so I waited. I like that grin it gave me this morning. . Disappointment can be a good thing. It admits you still want for something. That's all y9ou need to find your way. Enjoy!

Being invisible and being in the spotlight are extremes. Each has advantages and drawbacks. I hope to reside in the large space between these outer limits. I always enjoy your work, Paul.
