Or- every word discloses a lie….

That might also be the revelatory power of words, Wendy

Words are a super power, often used for evil. 🦕 revelatory, yes

Exactly, Wendy. That is why we must exercise care with how we speak, what we listen to, and what we read.

Yes, Anu, words can be revelatory and healing.

Startlingly insightful, Paul! And you’ve kept it passive, intentionally or not, I don’t know; are these “words” words that I speak, hear, or read? The book in the pic implies the third but when I first read the poem I thought the first! 🙂

Great job getting me thinking!

I think the poem would say that it speaks to all three, Don, that words are capable of pinning one to the wall at any moment.

Very esoteric, metaphysical. The poem is trying to express the inexpressible; ie the power of words. Could be a description of your creative process? What words do/reveal to you? Just my poetic interpretation, for the poem is open to all kinds of interpretations. That’s the hallmark of a great poem imo.

Good morning, Richard, and Thank you. Another sunny day for SoCal?

Still dark sky, no sun yet, but promises to be bright with solar light right on target to tap key board of computer to wrap the shadows around my coffee cup which I haven’t got out of bed yet. Soon sun will pour into my room, bright light and warmth back to you.

It could be, Charles, but I have no one particular in mind

I was thinking of it from the various perspectives mentioned. A sore one is not necessarily a bad thing. Some times it something that is very necessary. Don’s broad perspective

Some words feel like this, but mercifully not all. As I watched the Aurora a couple nights ago, and am watching tree swallows and their aerial acrobatics right now, I’m having a moment of gratitude for both… the infinity of beauty, and the nearly infinite capacity of words to shape and enhance our experience. I love your words, my friend, I really do. Thanks for being so generous with them.

I've read your poem several times now, Paul and each time I think of words and strings of words that wound my center. Memories are being pondered here. Thank you Paul.

For some reason, Paul, this took me back to my early youth when I first discovered the wonders of the Encyclopedia.
